Childrens' Services
Typically children are referred to us from a Family Support to Children with Disabilities (FSCD) worker (who works for the government). Every child will have his/her own "agreement" or "contract", which will detail the parameters of the support services that child will require. WGSS then reviews the contract, and matches appropriate staff with the children (for instance, looks at the contract requirements - which may include needing a staff member before and after school because mom is at work--then posts a memo to see which staff members are interested, then follows through with other employment requirements). We provide services not only in Rocky Mountain House and surrounding areas but also have a satellite office in Drayton Valley which encompasses the County of Brazeau. There are a variety of services available through this program, but they may include Host Family (includes the child going to a qualified and well-screened employee's home for a 24-hour period - with the purpose of giving the parents a break, respite/relief, rehabilitation aide, etc.) This is a versatile program, developed to meet the needs of the child and family. Westward Goals Support Services is now able to provide a variety of other services through Intervention and Protection Services.
